Arabian Oud, the largest specialised perfume retailer in the world and foremost luxury fragrance house in the Middle East, has won the coveted favourite perfume of the year award for its unisex fragrance Kalemat at the inaugural FiFi Dubai 2010 awards, held last night at The Address Hotel Downtown Dubai. Representing the company, Arabian Oud vice president Mr. Abdullah Al Dawish received the award.

The significance of the award is represented in the fact it is the first online consumer voting within the region to choose their favourite perfume within the Arab World. Known as the Oscars of the fragrance world, this award remains the most important award bestowed to a perfumer, and for the first time, it is bringing the high-status accolade to the Middle East to honour the excellence and ingenuity of key players in the regional fragrance industry.

Topping the competition in the Arabian scents division of the “My Favourite Perfume of the Year” category, the best-selling aromatic brew garnered the most votes from customers in the Arab World and emerged the most popular choice among women and men who demand only the finest and most luxurious when it comes to their perfume. Based on online consumer votes, which was conducted under the supervision of the globally-renewed publishing houses; ITP and Madam Figaro, Kalemat won over several regional and international prestigious perfume brands.  The new honours follow Kalemat’s most recent triumph, winning “Perfume Of The Year Award” during FIFI UK 2010.

Enjoying exceptional record sales worldwide, the winning fragrance is an opulent and exotic preparation derived from a number of sought after ingredients in Arabian perfuming, including grape musk pink flowers, star anise, mahogany and cashmere wood, rosemary flower and amber and musk tilapia white papers. The resulting combination is an insinuating expression of delicate personality that subtly communicates glamour, prestige, and incomparable individuality.

In addition to the esteemed consumer choice award, Arabian Oud also won top awards in two other categories.

The jury which helped decide the winners was comprised by foremost professionals in the realms of fashion, media and marketing, was headed by John Bailey, fellow at the Royal Society of Arts and Council Member of the British Society of Perfumers.

With an already established foothold of Saudi Arabia’s perfume industry, representing a 34% market share in the Kingdom according to latest data from Euromonitor, Arabian Oud’s three simultaneous honours further cements the fragrance house’s premiere position and ever growing significance in the regional and global perfume industry.
