Palestinian President Yasser Arafat arrived in Tunis on Friday to attend a rally to protest against the killing of Palestinians in the worst violence with Israelis in four years, reported Reuters, quoting officials.
"Arafat arrived in the Tunisian capital in the early hours of Friday from Gaza. He will attend a popular gathering in Tunis with President Zine al-Abidine (Ben Ali)," an official said.
The gathering, organized by the ruling Constitutional Democratic Rally (RCD), was organized to show solidarity with the Palestinians, he said.
Arafat left the Gaza Strip Thursday night for Tunisia and is due to head to Spain on Friday, reported AFP.
The president will hold talks with Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, said the agency.
