Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat called Wednesday for the application of recent Arab and Islamic summit resolutions to support the Palestinians Intifada, or uprising.

Arafat said he hoped for "the application of the resolutions" from the Arab and Islamic summits in Cairo and Doha in October and November "in order to support the Intifada."

He was speaking prior to his departure from Morocco, where he had met with King Mohammed VI and US Middle East Envoy Dennis Ross during a two-day visit.

His remarks came on the heels of the Moroccan government's announcement Tuesday night that it would contribute five million dollars to unemployed people in the Palestinian territories.

So far, Arafat says the Palestinian Authority has received only 61 million dollars of the one billion dollars in aid promised to it at the Arab summit in Cairo in late October.

Meanwhile, during his meeting with Ross, Arafat informed him of "the serious situation in the Palestinian territories" and that "Jewish settlements had become a danger to the Palestinians people", Arafat's spokeman, Marwan Kanafani, told reporters.

Kanafani added that no real progress was made during the talks between Arafat and Ross.

However, Ross described the talks as "very useful." -- RABAT (AFP)
