Palestinian President Yasser Arafat will travel to Egypt's Mediterranean city of Alexandria on Monday for talks with President Hosni Mubarak and visiting Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdelaziz, a source at the Egyptian president's office said Sunday.
Arafat is due to hold separate talks with the Egyptian president and the Saudi Arabian heir Monday evening, after a meeting between Mubarak and Prince Abdullah, the source told AFP.
The Arab leaders were expected to discuss the state of a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians as well as wider regional developments in the wake of an Israeli air raid on a Syrian radar base in Lebanon on Sunday.
Separately, Crown Prince Abdullah arrives in Egypt Monday for a three-day official visit, following a trip to France where he met US Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid said on Saturday that “ways to activate bilateral ties in the field of economy and trade will top the agenda of the leaders’ meeting in Alexandria.”
“Ways to increase Saudi investments in Egypt and increasing bilateral cooperation in petrochemical industries will be high on the agenda,” he added.
Ebeid added that the Palestinian crisis would also be the focus of talks between Mubarak and the Saudi crown prince, who is currently in Paris – Albawaba.com
