Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was due to leave for a one-day visit to Oman Friday to meet Sultan Qaboos to discuss the violence in the Middle East and a US plan for peace with Israel, an Arafat advisor said.
"President Arafat will visit Oman today (Friday) and will hold talks with Sultan Qaboos on the difficult situation in the Palestinian territories resulting from the Israeli aggressions," Arafat aide Nabil Abu Rudeina told AFP.
Abu Rudeina said Arafat and Qaboos would also discuss "the political situation including the US initiative."
The regular weekly meeting of the Palestinian leadership had been canceled because of Arafat's visit, the Palestinian official said -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
