Palestinian President Yasser Arafat dismissed on Tuesday Colonel Abul Ola, the head of the national security forces, for releasing a number of Islamists detained on the background of a series of attacks against Israel, reported Al Jazeera satellite channel.
More than 90 members of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad groups were rounded up Sunday after three Hamas attacks killed 26 Israelis in west Jerusalem, Haifa and Gaza.
Arafat responded by declaring a state of emergency, in response to mounting US and Israeli pressures to crack down on the hardline resistance movements – Albawaba.com
