Unknown attackers hurled a hand grenade and fired rifles at pro-Yasser Arafat demonstrators in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ein al Hilweh in Lebanon, wounding at least 15 people, a Palestinian official said Friday.
Col. Khaled Aref, a senior official of Arafat's Fatah faction, said three of those injured during a Thursday night march in support of the Palestinian president were critically wounded, the AP reported.
Aref blamed the attack on a rival group that had previously fought with Arafat supporters.
About 400 people took to Ein El-Hilweh's narrow alleyways in southern Lebanon to protest Israel's decision to expel Arafat from his West Bank headquarters.
When the crowd reached the camp's Safsaf neighborhood, attackers threw a hand grenade and fired automatic rifles at them. The crowd dispersed after the attack. (Albawaba.com)
