Palestinian President Yasser Arafat arrived Wednesday in Jordan for talks with King Abdullah, from the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm Al Sheikh where he had talks with President Hosni Mubarak.
The Palestinian news agency, WAFA, said that Arafat’s talks focused on the situation in the Palestinian lands and ways to push the peace process back on track.
Following a closed-door meeting between the two leaders, top officials from both sides joined in for talks, said the agency.
A Palestinian diplomat told AFP that Arafat would meet King Abdullah in the afternoon for talks following his ceasefire announcement Tuesday that triggered hopes of a breakthrough in the Middle East conflict.
