Arpora nightclub fire kills at least 25 in North Goa, India

ALBAWABA - A massive fire broke out at a nightclub in Arpora in North Goa, India, killing at least 25 people, including tourists, on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

According to Indian sources, the fire erupted in Birch by Romeo Lane — a nightclub in Arpora, after a series of LPG cylinder explosions.

Hindustan Times said that among the 25 victims, four were tourists and 14 were staff members. On the other hand, authorities are working to identify the remaining seven bodies.

A statement issued by the Goa Police read, "Six persons are injured and their treatment is ongoing. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. Police and fire department investigation is in progress. Legal action is being taken."

The Prime Minister of India posted on X mourning the death of dozens in the nightclub and expressing that he is "deeply saddened" by the accident.

Narendra Modi said, "My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Spoke to Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Ji about the situation. The State Government is providing all possible assistance to those affected."'

On the other hand, the President of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, also took to social media, saying that she is "deeply pained by the tragic fire incident in North Goa district".

"My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May they find strength during this difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," Bhavan added.
