Arsenal Sign Cameroon Star

UEFA Cup runners-up Arsenal have signed Cameroon international midfielder Lauren Bisan-Etame Mayer from Spanish outfit Real Mallorca. 

Mateao Alemany, secretary-general of the Cup Winners Cup finalists, made the announcement soon after the star's team were humiliated by relegated Atletico Madrid with 2-1 defeat, ending the season with 10th place overall. 

The 23-year-old, who must still undergo a medical, had been sought after by Real Madrid, Serie A duo Parma and AS Roma and French giants Paris St Germain. 

Meanwhile, Lauren who scored three goals this season and was a member of the side that lost 2-1 to Lazio in the Cup Winners Cup final, joined Mallorca in 1998 after a two-year spell in the Spanish lower divisions -- AFP
