Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Sunday reviewed "the latest developments" in the Middle East with Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, the SANA agency reported.
Assad and Hariri, who has just been on a visit to Paris, discussed the "impact of the latest regional developments on Syria and Lebanon, and the need to coordinate Arab positions and to consult with one another," SANA added.
Hariri categorically denied Saturday in Paris reports of possible attacks against Lebanon or Syria, which stand charged by Washington of harboring "terrorist" organizations.
At the end of a discussion with French President Jacques Chirac, Hariri said: "The question [of a strike] against Lebanon or Syria is not on the table, and nobody is pre-occupied in that regard. Lebanon and Syria are not worried and it is a shame that certain Arab press outlets are concentrating on such an eventuality."
The United States considers that Syria and Lebanon still harbor "terrorist" organizations, such as Hezbollah and radical Palestinian groups -- DAMASCUS (AFP)
