AUC offers course in risk management
To meet the need for risk management education , the American University in Cairo and the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) are offering the Complete Course in Risk Management. This non-degree executive education course will be offered October 25 – 29, 2009 in Cairo and is designed to provide participants with a broad and solid foundation of knowledge to effectively practice risk management.
“The events of the past 18 months underscore the importance of risk management and clearly illustrate that much work lies ahead. Being a partner with PRMIA is a significant step forward as we strive to enhance the quality of risk management education across a wider audience through the American University in Cairo and its International Executive Education Institute (IEEI), said Stephen Everhart, associate dean of AUC’s School of Business. “Providing managers with tools and a framework for examining the presence of ‘Black Swans’ won’t prevent the next financial markets seizure, but it may lessen the amplitude of the swing.”
In 2008, AUC established the International Executive Education Institute (IEEI) to be the leading regional platform for world class executive development and networking. Partnering with the world’s top business schools and academic leaders, IEEI provides a unique learning experience at AUC. Recognizing that executive development programs have become a necessary milestone in the career paths of managers and CEOs worldwide, IEEI provides intellectual stimulation and cutting-edge knowledge in an academic setting, together with valuable networking among business leaders in the region.
PRMIA, in conjunction with AUC and other leading academic partners around the world, sets the international standards for graduate level education in risk management and financial engineering by offering training and development programs in finance and risk management worldwide, and reinvesting the proceeds of these activities into further educational efforts, scholarly research and scholarships.
The American University in Cairo (AUC) was founded 90 years ago and is a major contributor to the social, political and cultural life of the Arab region. It is a vital bridge between East and West, linking Egypt and the region to the world through scholarly research, partnerships with academic and research institutions, and study abroad programs. An independent, nonprofit, apolitical, non-sectarian and equal-opportunity institution, AUC is fully accredited in Egypt and the United States.
