The Avenues steps up to Middle East Grand Turismo™5 Prologue Challenge
Amazing prizes for Ahmad El Azmi from Kuwait include a trip to Japan and the chance to test drive the Nissan GT-R
The Avenues recently hosted the ultimate in race- the Middle East Grand Turismo 5 Prologue (GT5) Challenge by Play Station. As part of the nine regional heats being held in the Middle East, the Avenues was selected as the exclusive venue for the Kuwait league of the championship. The iconic shopping destination played host to over 1000 gaming participants. An event that was under the supervision of Alghanim Electronics.
Nine regional heats took place across the region starting with the 25th of June in Riyadh, KSA and in further venues in KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and UAE. The fastest driver from each country league qualified for the Middle East Grand Final, hosted at Dubai Festival City in Dubai on the 19th of July.
Among these was the Kuwaiti contestant, Mr. Ahmad El Azmi, who clocked the fastest time in the heats and headed to Dubai. He was also the fastest driver among more than 10,000 participants and won the Championship in Dubai.
Commenting on the event, Steve Bunce, Mall Director of The Avenues said: “We are glad to have teamed up with Playstation to provide a fun filled time for virtual game lovers. As gaming is growing in popularity in the region, this was an opportunity for the local community to try their skills in the world of e-Sports.”
The Middle East Grand Turismo™5 Prologue champion Ahmad El Azmi won the opportunity to test drive the Nissan GT-R and a trip to Japan. He also received his very own state-of-the-art GT Racing Pod which comes with a 40” W BRAVIA LCD TV, a PLAYSTATION3 console, and Grand Turismo™5 Prologue game.
