Symbol of the genesis of  life, protective shell and place of sanctuary – the egg. Villeroy & Boch presents the new bathroom collection Aveo as the interpretation of this organic form by the international design agency Conran & Partners.

The bathroom as a refuge, a place that offers not only protection and shelter but also room for development – the analogy to the natural form of the egg suggests itself and finds the perfect medium in ceramics for its realisation. Performing one’s ablutions in the morning against a background of the rounded organic form or unwinding in the pleasure-giving bath in the evening provides the active, modern and design-conscious person with an environment that is in line with his lifestyle and style of furnishing. AVEO does not merely stand for rest and retreat, but also for regeneration. A bathroom, where you feel like a new person every day and that allows you to recover from the stress and strains of everyday life.

Taking the brand content of the 260-year-old company into account, the renowned London design agency Conran & Partners created a bathroom collection for Villeroy & Boch that combines emotionalism, function and superior aesthetic qualities. The designers at Conran & Partners are fascinated in particular, apart from the symbolic strength of the egg, by the organic rounded form and its natural appeal: “A shape that moves away from the predictability and sterility of symmetries”. They regard both, ceramics and the highly developed material Quaryl, used for the AVEO baths, as being made for the soft shapes inspired by nature. Nakedness is given a whole new meaning with the shell of this bath – shelter and warmth instead of exposure and vulnerability.

As a nice feature from the hygienic point of view, the AVEO range comes with Ceramicplus and Activecare. Ceramicplus from Villeroy & Boch is the ceramic surface finish with a dirt-repellent effect. Dirt is virtually unable to obtain a hold on ceramicplus and simply flows off with the water. Activecare means active protection for enhanced hygiene in the bathroom. This ceramic glaze, which is exclusive to Villeroy & Boch, contains silver ions which effectively prevent the build-up of bacteria. Activecare – redefining bathroom hygiene.

AVEO is available in three shades of white and the matching furniture is made of bamboo or walnut. An elegant addition: the aesthetically sleek SOURCE tap fitting, also designed by Conran & Partners.

About Villeroy & Boch
Villeroy & Boch is a European lifestyle brand of international standing and operates in 125 countries. The Groups head office is in Mettlach/Germany. The production is carried out at 19 factories located in 12 European countries. Almost 10.000 people are employed by Villeroy & Boch. The company went public in 1990. Villeroy & Boch’s product spectrum includes three product groups: "Bathroom and Wellness", "Tableware", "Tiles". In 1998, the year of the company's 250th anniversary, a major strategic reorientation took place, which was marked by a change in corporate direction from that of a production-orientated ceramics group to that of a European lifestyle supplier. In the heart of that paradigm shift is the sales and marketing concept "The House of Villeroy & Boch".

The concept is based on an innovative, consistently integral presentation of products with an intentionally emotional customer appeal.

This year Villeroy & Boch is celebrating its 260th birthday and therefore has developed a special website, accessible through www.villeroy-boch.com, which provides interesting introductory information on Villeroy & Boch's company history, which is presented along an interactive chronological line. Here the trend-setting epochs in the company's history are shown in 50-year intervals, together with detailed information on the corporate history and decisive steps in product development.
