ALBAWABA - For the past few hours, the White House has been abuzz with leaks from inside the Oval Office, relayed by senior administration officials, indicating that American and Iranian negotiators reached a final framework agreement within the past 48 hours, pending President Donald Trump's approval.

The White House, through several officials, declined to discuss the details of the understanding with the Iranian side, but the limited information circulating about the agreement suggests that the two sides reached an understanding to extend the ceasefire for an additional 60 days.

What are the main points of possible US-Iran agreement?

According to available information, Iran will be required, in parallel with the implementation of practical steps on the ground, to end all nuclear ambitions and projects, whether currently existing or those being planned for the future.

Among the key points included in the framework agreement is the reactivation of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in a way that allows maritime traffic to return to normal, in exchange for Iran's commitment to immediately begin removing the mines it laid in the strait's waters within the 60-day period.

At a later stage, the two sides will begin bilateral negotiations addressing major points of contention, primarily the Iranian nuclear program.
