A brother-in-law of the judge trying Saddam Hussein for genocide was shot dead by gunmen while driving in western Baghdad, police said on Friday.

One police source told Reuters that the 10-year-old nephew of chief judge Mohammed al-Ureybi and a third person in the car were injured in the shooting attack. A second source said the nephew had died and the third person, who was Ureybi's sister, was seriously wounded.

Meanwhile, seven bodies bearing signs of torture were found in Baghdad on Friday. The corpses of six men and one woman were all found in east Baghdad neighborhoods. They were blindfolded, and had their hands and legs bound, police said.
