Bahrain on Sunday extended its month-long census to the end of the week in order to “enable more people to take part,” reported the Gulf Daily News.
“The census was due to end Sunday night, but many expatriates were still flocking to the registration centers,” said Census 2001 executive director Sheikh Ahmed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa.
“Because of a heavy turnout at the center in Hoora over the past three nights, we decided to extend it until Thursday night,” Sheikh Ahmed told the paper.
Over 1,400 workers and volunteers were involved in the month-long population, housing, buildings and establishments census project.
Shaikh Ahmed said 60 percent of the enumerators had completed their work – Albawaba.com
