Bahrain Considering Joint Defense Ventures with Jordan

Bahrain is examining the prospect of joint ventures with Jordan to develop weapons systems, reported the Middle East Newsline (MENL) on Sunday.

The proposal would combine Bahrain financing with Jordanian expertise to produce weapons and defense systems, said the report.

The systems would either be procured by Manama or sold abroad.

The issue was discussed during a visit by Bahrain Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa to Amman on Thursday, said MENL.

During his visit, Shiekh Salman, who is also the Gulf state's chief of staff, held talks with Jordan's King Abdullah, Crown Prince Hamza and other senior officials, said reports.

MENL said that he also attended a military exercise.

The Bahraini official will visit Egypt on Monday for bilateral talks - Albawaba.com
