Bahrain’s Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on Sunday ordered the country’s monetary agency to freeze the assets of any group or individual linked to international "terrorism."
The premier, who was chairing a daily cabinet session, told the Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA) "to take all necessary measures in compliance with international legitimacy to freeze the money of any organization or individual linked to suspicious operations," according to the Manama-based Gulf Daily News.
Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed Al Mutawa said the decision was taken "out of Bahrain's keenness to support international efforts to combat the transfer of funds for terrorist operations."
The cabinet, meanwhile, reviewed a memo from Finance and National Economy Minister Abdulla Saif, who reported on international steps taken to combat terrorism through the freezing of terrorist organizations' money, said the paper -- Albawaba.com
