Bahrain offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on Jammu and Kashmir dispute and called on the two countries to immediately resume bilateral talks for this purpose, said the English daily Bahrain Tribune Sunday.

The offer was made by Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa during his meeting with Pakistani ambassador to Bahrain Lord Nazir Ahmad, who called on him on Saturday to seek his support for the resolution of the long-standing conflict, the daily added.

The daily said that Bahraini foreign minister Mohammad Mubarak al-Khalifa and other cabinet members are currently on a tour of Middle East and Gulf countries to seek their support for Kashmiri's right to self-determination.

The daily quoted a Pakistani official as saying that the Bahraini premier expressed his concern over the tension between New Delhi and Islamabad on the Kashmir issue, which could ignite nuclear war in the region.

He said that such a war would also affect Bahrain and other Gulf countries – Albawaba.com
