Bahrain is forging ahead with plans to stage the first naval exhibition in the Middle East, reported the Middle East Newsline on Thursday.
Officials said the Gulf emirate had contacted allies and defense contractors to participate in the "Bahrain Naval Maritime 2002" exhibition on January 14, 2002.
They said the event was meant to review the latest technology and address naval requirements in the Gulf and the rest of the Middle East.
The three-day exhibition will take place in the Mina Salman port, said MENL, adding that expected Western contractors include Boeing, Bell Helicopter Lockheed Martin and Raytheon – Albawaba.com
