Over 200 young demonstrators pelted the walls surrounding the US Embassy compound in Bahrain with stones Wednesday, shouting "Death to America and Israel," then scattered when riot police came at them with batons and tear gas.
The youths eventually regrouped and were joined by students from nearby boys' schools. Many of the protestors shouted "Death to America and Israel" as they ran toward the high walls - able only to get within some 200 feet before being blocked by concrete barriers surrounding the embassy - and launched their rocks. There was no damage; the rocks harmlessly bounced off or fell short of the walls.
Meanwhile, there were no report on immediate casualties from the clashes with riot police, though some young demonstrators were rubbing their eyes from the tear gas.
Moreover, no arrests were made as the youths charged off well ahead of the police, then circled back to take another run with fresh hands full of stones, according to The AP.
For there part, embassy officials could not immediately be reached for comment on the incident. (Albawaba.com)
