According to a new index, published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), Bahrain ranks second among Gulf countries and third among Arab countries in trade and development. The new index, which monitors, benchmarks and ranks all countries also shows that Bahrain is located in the 46th place, among the 136 countries ranked in the index.
Bahrain, reports <i>Gulf Daily News</i>, comes second in ‘trade and development’ only to Kuwait (39th place in the world) in the Gulf region. The leading Arab country in trade and development, according to the index, is Jordan (45th place in the world) and the world’s leading country in trade and development is Denmark, followed by the US and the UK, in the second and third place in the world, respectively.
