Two successful kidney transplants have been carried out for the first time by a purely Bahraini team at Sulmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), The Gulf Daily News reported Tuesday.
The 32-year-old Bahraini mother became the first patient to undergo a transplant exclusively at the hands of Bahraini surgeons.
Consultant vascular and renal transplant surgeon Dr Sadiq Abdulla, and consultant urologist and renal transplant surgeon Dr Kadem Zabar, were assisted by a team of specialists, including consultant nephrologist Dr Samir Al Arrayed
Maki Abbas, aged 36, a storekeeper with the Education Ministry, also underwent a successful transplant, after his 40-year-old brother donated one kidney for him -- Albawaba.com
