Zahra'a Taher, Founder and Managing Director of T&M EVENTSCOM, one of the region's leading public relations and event management companies, has been invited to speak at the International Public Relations Association- Gulf Council (IPRA-GC) Conference and Exhibition, taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain on 20-22 March 2007.

The Conference- which is falls under the theme "Changing Communications, Communicating Change: Public Relations and Image Building"- is being held under the patronage of H.H. Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mrs. Taher, will be speaking on "Opportunities and Challenges for Women in the PR and Media Sector". Taking a different approach to this topic, Mrs. Taher believes that women face no more challenges in the PR industry than men.

"From my personal experience in setting up T&M EVENTSCOM, I have discovered that we women, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, are very fortunate to have such strong support from the government and NGO's, which allow us to excel in all sectors- including the PR and media industry. Moreover, desktop surveys reveal that the Arab PR sector is largely dominated by women," commented Taher.

"I established T&M EVENTSCOM as a young Bahraini woman, five years ago, and am proud to say that this local Company has earned a high level of recognition and prestigious reputation region-wide- despite being one of the few successful PR companies which does not have an international affiliate."

Mrs. Taher strongly believes in, and attributes much of the Company's success to, its local element, which comprise a 100% Bahraini management team.

"Public relations centres on being able to reach your target market and effectively communicate your message. In this case, who better to understand the Arab culture than Arabs?"

Other Bahrainis speaking at the Conference are H.E. Muhammad Abd Ghafar, Minister of Information, and H.E. Dr. Majeed Al-Alawi, Minister of Labour.

Conference topics include: Changing Face of the GCC; The Role of GCC in the World; PR's Role in Fostering Cross-Cultural Understanding; The Gulf Region in the International Media; Companies and Communities: PR and Corporate Social Responsibility; Opportunities and Challenges for Women in the PR and Media Sector; The Changing Face of Communications; Crisis Communication and Management; PR and Major Public Activities- Election Campaigns as Examples; The Image of the Petroleum Industry in the World; Public Relations: An Effective Partner in Organizations; The Value of Talent and Innovation in Public Relations; PR Measurement: An Effective Tool to Achieve Success; Tomorrow's PR Firm: Capabilities and Service Expectations.
