Bahraini women from across the country will meet late Saturday to form their own national movement, the first of its kind in the Gulf state, reported the Gulf News.
About 70 representatives from several women’s clubs and societies will discuss creating a single body to foster the women’s movement, said the paper.
“Joining forces will strengthen our movement in Bahrain, giving it more power to address and seek solutions to various issues,” said Fatima Rabea, president of Awal Women’s Society.
She said the body would be a turning point for women in Bahrain, by uniting them in a single agenda.
“We are all serious, ambitious and looking forward to it a lot,” she told the paper.
“The atmosphere in Bahrain is now more conducive for such an idea, with a leadership that is stressing that women will be given their full rights,” she said – Albawaba.com
