Group thrills crowds at BurJuman in one among a series of mall performances

Dubai Summer Surprises 2009 is featuring the festive entertainment of Banda Berimbau, a group of Italian and Brazilian performers. The happy experience taken from street community entertainment found in carnivals is now happening in malls across DSS. The show attracts huge audience as shoppers stop and watch them play the drums, shakers, and whistles that recreate the samba rhythm. The circus inspired costume of shiny blue and white ensemble also add to the feel of being in a real carnival while shopping at the mall. Moreover, their energetic performance prompts the crowd to clap and cheer, and even dance to the tunes of their music.

The international renowned group Banda Berimbau has been participating in various events in Europe and the Middle East. They have been performing the Samba show and other lively performances during tours for almost 10 years now. The group is composed of eight members and most of the group’s current members have been part of it for almost five years. However, Matej Belingar, a professional DJ, and Aldo Salmaso, a jewellery designer, have been with Banda Berimbau since its inception.

Watch Banda Berimbau play the Percussion Samba Show in Arabian Centre on August 7 (5pm and 8pm).
