ALBAWABA - Following weeks of deadly student protests across Bangladesh, a senior advisor told AFP that Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, might be submitting her resignation.
UPDATE
A source close to Hasina told AFP that the Prime Minister has left the Dhaka palace for a "safer place".
The advisor told AFP "The situation is such that this is a possibility, but I don't know how it will happen,". Deadly protests swamped the country, as reports revealed that over 90 people were killed on Sunday, raising the overall death toll to at least 300.
In one of the bloodiest days since the protests started in July, hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi protestors calling for Hasina's resignation were confronted by supporters of the government on Sunday.
The protests over civil service job quotas that started last month have grown into some of the most intense turmoil under Hasina's 15-year leadership, and they have expanded to include demands that the PM must resign.
In the clash between the opposing groups using sticks and knives and the security forces using weapons, at least 94 persons were murdered on Sunday alone, including 14 police officers.
