Authorities in Lebanon have seized prohibited goods being shipped from Belarus to Iraq in violation of a United Nations embargo and arrested two Lebanese in connection with the cargo, judicial officials said Tuesday.

The consignment of helmets and communications equipment was seized earlier this week, without any import license or permit for entry into Lebanese territory, according to AFP.

The two forwarding agents to whom the cargo was destined were detained and sentenced to two months behind bars, but the sentences were commuted and they were each fined 750,000 Lebanese pounds.(Albawaba.com)
