Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak will send high-level envoys to Europe and to Morocco in the coming days to brief leaders on his policies in the wake of the failed Camp David peace summit, his office said Sunday.
Internal Security Minister Shlomo Ben Ami, who has been intimately involved in the peace process in recent months and who was part of Barak's negotiating team at Camp David, will visit France, Britain, Spain, Belgium, Portugal and Morocco.
Separately, another Camp David negotiator, Transport and Tourism Minister Amnon-Lipkin Shahak, will travel to Germany, Russia and Turkey.
The objective of these visits will be to "counter-balance" the current swing of Arab and other capitals being made by Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Israeli public radio reported.
Earlier Sunday, an Israeli diplomatic source said Barak himself will travel to Jordan in the next few days for talks with King Abdullah II on the stumbling peace process.
They would focus on ways to advance the talks on the final status of the Palestinian territories following the breakdown of the summit between Barak and Arafat - OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (AFP)
