Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak ordered the closure of the airport in the Gaza Strip overnight Saturday, with the exception of the plane of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, Israeli radio reported.

His move followed an attack on an Israeli bus in the area which left eight passengers injured, Israeli public radio said.

Those shots were fired from the direction of Yasser Arafat International Airport, in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the radio report.

The bus had been transporting Israeli airport employees from the airport – JERUSALEM (AFP)
