Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak will propose to his cabinet Sunday the setting up of a "commission of inquiry" to examine the causes of the violence in Israel this month.
The commission would be tasked with examining "the clashes in early October between Israeli security forces and Israeli civilians, Arabs and Jews," in northern Israel, according to a statement from the prime minister's office.
Twelve Arab Jews have died in the clashes in Israel.
More than a hundred others have been killed in fighting in the occupied territories, the vast majority of them Palestinians.
"The Prime Minister attaches great importance to this commission," the statement said.
Meanwhile, military sources said that two Israeli buses were attacked Saturday by stone-throwing youths from Arab areas in northern Israel.
Three passengers were slightly injured.
In early October, Israeli Arabs held large-scale and violent protests in solidarity with the Palestinians.
Nazareth has been a flashpoint for the Arab-Jewish violence.
