Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received a verbal message Wednesday from his Sudanese counterpart, Omar Al Bashir that dealt with the latest situation is southern Sudan, reported the official Bahraini news agency (GNA).
The message was conveyed by Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman who arrived in Cairo earlier in the day.
"The Sudanese government is keen to find a peaceful politic solution to settle the problem of south Sudan," said the foreign minister after his meeting with Mubarak.
Since 1983, Sudan has been wracked by a civil war pitting the Arab Muslim north against the mainly Christian and animist south.
Egypt and Libya have mediated between the Sudanese government and several opposition parties to end the conflict - Albawaba.com
