Batelco Chess Championship Sponsorship Deal Signed

Batelco is once again demonstrating its commitment to community activities by taking on the role of main sponsor of Bahrain Chess Club (BCC) International Open Chess Championship which will take place from May 2nd to 14th, 2007.

Batelco Public Relations Specialist Osama Al Saad presented a sponsorship cheque to BCC representative Jamal Abdulgaffar at a ceremony held recently at Batelco’s headquarters in Hamala.

The Batelco Chess Championship aims to expand the general public awareness about the importance of chess as an intellectual game. It further aspires to have a positive impact in enhancing the education of all participants particularly the young and will contribute towards attracting young budding chess players.

“We are delighted to lend our name to this event to ensure its success and to help the Club fulfill its mission of promoting chess among all age groups and nationalities,” says Batelco Corporate Affairs General Manager Ahmed Al Janahi.

“This sponsorship is an inseparable part of Batelco’s sponsorship & donation plan designed to support the local community in sports, educational and health initiatives,” he added.
