The Fixed Network Profit Model Innovation seminar, which covered the whole spectrum of the Next Generation Network, took place at the Singapore Expo on June 21st as part of CommunicAsia 2007 which ran from June 19th to 22nd.

Dr. Al-Thawadi’s presentation covered a range of topics including;-

The Seminar also included a number of informative workshops on the latest NGN technology updates and new product launches which Dr. Al Thawadi and Batelco Manager Product Development Hesham Mustafa participated in, to share the latest knowledge with their colleagues at Batelco on their return.

NGN (Next Generation Networks) technology is the new telecommunications reality, replacing old fashioned circuit-switched phone systems with a new packet-switched architecture, most commonly based on the internet protocol to deliver diverse services - from broadband internet to fixed, wireless and mobile voice and data over a single network.

Batelco is in the final phase of rolling out its NGN and completing a $50m capital expenditure programme so that availability of broadband services to every household with an existing fixed telephone line will only be a phone call away.
