Manama, Bahrain: Batelco would like to apologize to all its internet customers for any inconvenience caused by the recent disruption in the Internet service.

The problem began on 12th August (at 17:30) when a transmission problem at a Saudi network caused the failure of 3 major international uplinks with TATA Telecom, which directly impacted our total uplinks capacity causing service degradation. This problem was resolved on 13th August (at about 15:30), and as a result our service came back to normal.

Unfortunately, on the same day, the operation of 3 other international uplinks was affected at about 17:30 due to hardware failure of a FLAG Telecom core router. This, in turn, reduced our total uplinks capacity resulting in service degradation.

All our Internet services were restored on Thursday 14th August at 13:00, and Internet traffic is currently being monitored by our Network Operations Centre (NOC).

“The degradation of the service was beyond Batelco’s control. However, our dedicated staff at NOC immediately took the necessary actions to ensure full service restoration,” said Batelco Group Secretary and Company Spoeksperson Ahmed Al Janahi.
