Bayern in Hope for Winning Cup

Real seemed in control after winning the Champions League semifinal first leg 2-0 in Madrid but doubts kick-started after they were beaten 1-0 at home territory to Alaves in the Spanish league Saturday.

Bayern received a timely boost from a convincing 3-0 defeat of Werder Bremen to win the German Cup for the 10th time.

"The euphoria must grow," said Bayern Munich's manager Uli Hoeness through Reuters, "we must fight like never before..."

The Munich club, who conceded two goals in injury time to lose 2-1 to Manchester United in last year's final would be at full-strength playing powerfully in a match that fans might say, is a greatest feast to date.

After Barcelona were thrashed 4-1 by Valencia in their Spanish semifinal first leg clash of the Champions League Tuesday, they have to enhance their entire performance if they wish to overpower them in the second leg.

Barcelona consoled them with the fact that they have already beaten Valencia 3-0 on their home territory in the soccer league this season, a result that would be enough to send the Catalans through to a final against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich who will meet in the second semifinal Wednesday.

Valencia however would be playing with the same attacking fluency that had seen them overwhelm their opponents previously and also Lazio 5-2 in their quarterfinal home match - (Several Sources).
