ALBAWABA - In a move mirroring Jordan's recent humanitarian endeavor, Belgium has announced its involvement in providing aid to Gaza through aerial means.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo disclosed this decision following a high-level Cabinet meeting, declaring Belgium's commitment to dropping essential humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip from aircraft.
Information shared after the meeting revealed that a Belgian Air Force A400M aircraft is set to depart on Monday from the Melsbroeck Military Airport. The aircraft will be loaded with crucial food and hygiene items intended for Gaza's residents as part of the aid effort.
Belgium's collaboration in this initiative came after an application submitted through Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib, with Jordan leading the operation. Additionally, it was disclosed that a team of Belgian experts has arrived in Jordan to coordinate the logistics of the aid mission, marking the commencement of preparations.
Initial plans entail the aid aircraft first touching down in Jordan before proceeding to Gaza to drop off the much-needed supplies. Should any complications arise during the Belgian aircraft's delivery process, Jordanian aircraft will be on standby to ensure swift and uninterrupted aid distribution to the region.
