Former World No.1 tennis players, Björn Borg and John McEnroe battled it out yesterday at W Doha Hotel & Residences on the sidelines of the Aspire4Sport Sports Congress and Exhibition in Doha, Qatar from November 15th till November 18th.
The tennis heroes, who were taking part in a special ‘stars on a stool’ session at the conference, and played in a ‘Masters’ game at The Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex last night, delighted W's guests as they carried on the battle back at W's Living Room in an impromptu game of tennis. The legendary stars rallied on a replica mini-tennis court specially built to wow spectators who gathered at W Doha to get a closer look at the surprise game.
Edgar Vaudeville, W Happening and Public Relations Manager, W Doha Hotel & Residences said: "This tennis stunt at W Living Room is our own very creative way to show our commitment to support Qatar's national sports initiatives. W Doha is the country's pulsing heart for topnotch, innovative lifestyle hospitality and, to that effect, we continuously work to present our visitors and Qatar's residents with unique opportunities to experience entertainment at its best."

The Aspire4Sport Congress and Exhibition started on Monday, with sports professionals from across the world meeting for four days of business, debate and entertainment.

The conference will play host to some of the biggest names in sport such as Sir Alex Ferguson, who will be taking part in a special one-to-one on Wednesday giving a unique insight into his career and thoughts on management and Michael Johnson, four time Olympic Gold medalist and World Record holder, who will be speaking at a coaching forum.

Other high profile guest speakers attending the conference will be Rubens Barrichello, Sir Clive Woodward, Sir Frank Williams, Andrew Castle, Wilfred Lemke, Niall Quinn and FC Internazionale Milano CEO Ernesto Paolillo.
The conference also coincides with a series of special events during the evenings including a gathering of World Cup Icons prior to the Argentina versus Brazil international match at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday November 17th. Football legends including Carlos Alberto, Mario Kempes and Ossie Ardiles and other stars from the last 40 years of the tournament will be honoured by a packed house and presented with awards celebrating their part in its history.

The W experience began with W New York (49th St. and Lexington), which opened its doors in December of 1998 with the recognition that there are travelers who seek a balance of style and substance when deciding where to stay. Inspired by the energy and vibrancy of Manhattan, the fashion, design and entertainment capital of the world, W Hotels created a revolutionary approach to the hotel industry by redefining luxury and the meaning of hotels - from an operational, process-driven hotel to a leading-edge lifestyle brand, leading to its recognition as the category buster.
