A planned visit to Moscow by British Prime Minister Tony Blair has had to be postponed because of "diary pressures," his official spokesman said Tuesday.

Although no precise dates had been made public, Russia's ITAR-TASS agency reported earlier this month that it was due to take place on November 6-7.

Blair's spokesman said an original date had been agreed but new dates were now being discussed, and he and Russian President Vladimir Putin were keen to meet up again.

The British prime minister met Putin on a visit to Russia in March, before the latter was formally elected president.

Putin returned the favor by making London one of his first foreign visits after he was voted into office.

Sergei Ivanov, the head of Russia's powerful Security Council, was Tuesday in London where he was due to meet Blair.
