Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI), the technology leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that it has been awarded 'Networking Vendor of the Year 2010' at the Reseller Middle East awards function held at the Madinat Jumeirah hotel in Dubai on May 30th 2010. The award recognizes Blue Coat for outstanding technology and solutions, value-added services and solid commitment to the channel and end-users in the region and reflects the popularity and esteem that Blue Coat has achieved among resellers, distributors and customers in the Middle East market.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Juergen Ruthotto-Doubek, Director, Channel Sales EMEA at Blue Coat Systems said, "It is with great pride and honour that we accept the award, particularly considering we were up against several global networking giants. During the past year, even with a difficult economic climate, Blue Coat continued to bring innovation and growth to the market. We also focused a great deal on developing and executing a channel strategy that offers partners solid margins, enhanced profitability and high level technical training and support. We highly value our partners who do an exceptional job of selling and servicing our products in the Middle East".

Blue Coat has been serving customers in the Middle East for a decade and currently has offices in Dubai and Riyadh. During the past year, it introduced innovative products in this region, including the CacheFlow™ appliance that helps service providers keep up with the escalating customer demand for Web 2.0, rich media and online video content while significantly lowering bandwidth consumption and the ProxySG® Virtual Appliance (VA) that runs on industry-standard servers and is designed to optimize the delivery of advanced business applications and streamline the consolidation of branch office IT infrastructure.

Blue Coat recently has made several enhancements to its existing products, including expanding its hybrid Secure Web Gateway solution with new models of ProxySG® and ProxyAV™ appliances, providing new cloud-based defenses in the Blue Coat WebPulse™ service and providing extended remote user protection through ProxyClient™ software. It also enhanced its Blue Coat® WebFilter database to provide IT managers with more granular control over Web-based multimedia applications and greater proactive protection against Web-based threats.

Blue Coat's channel sales partners are supported by its Channel Advantage Program, which was started in 2008 to help Blue Coat partners deliver better value to their customers by providing the right mix of tools throughout the entire sales cycle. The primary objective of the Channel Advantage Program is to foster joint success by providing compelling top- and bottom-line growth opportunities to Blue Coat partners. The program combines service offerings with rewards, evaluation and network assessment programs, advanced training and certifications, virtual marketing services, market development funds and other benefits to facilitate successful partner selling.

Over the past two years and especially last year, Blue Coat has enhanced the Channel Advantage Program to enable partners to better deliver value-added services and increase attach rates, build and drive new revenue pipeline and develop stronger consultative relationships with their customers.

"Our channel strategy is highly regarded. We know that investing in the skills of our partners is part of what makes us successful" concluded Mr. Ruthotto-Doubek.
