A bomb apparently hidden on a motorcycle detonated Monday in the parking lot of a state-oil company in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi, killing one person and injuring at least seven, police officials said.

Authorities were trying to learn if the person killed in the explosion was the motorcycle’s driver.

The bomb exploded near the headquarters of Pakistan State Oil, shattering windows. It was not immediately clear if the PSO was the target of the attack.

According to AP, the blast was also close to the home of Farooq Awan, the head of anti-terrorism police in the city. He was not injured, nor was his house seriously damaged.

Police said nobody had yet claimed responsibility for the explosion. "We are investigating and trying to determine who was behind this bomb explosion," deputy police chief Tariq Jamil said. (Albawaba.com)
