A person was killed when a small bomb detonated at a tram station in the Matariya district of Cairo on Saturday night, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
A primitive bomb detonated on the tram line when a man was passing by with his donkey, killing them both.
Last week Matariya district witnessed a series of small bombings targeting mobile phone stores.
Matariya has for months been the scene of weekly confrontations between supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi and police.
