Borouge re-emphasizes its commitment to customers with more value added products and services
The plastic solutions provider announces plans to open hubs in various countries, as part of its efforts to get closer to its customers
Borouge, a leading provider of innovative value creating plastics solutions, today announced that it has planned more distribution hubs to accommodate the increasing customers demand in its target markets. This is also keeping in line the increase in production from 2010 from its Ruwais plant. The announcement was made at Arabplast 2009, the Middle East’s leading International Plastic & Rubber Trade Event, being held at the Dubai International Exhibition Center, Dubai. Borouge is the Gold Sponsor of Arabplast 2009.
Borouge has already taken steps to secure its competitive edge in the market and provide excellence in customer service and support. Borouge will diversify its value added products from 14 to 48 products including producing of Polypropolene at the new plant.
Borouge 2 will triple the existing production capacity of the organization to two million tons per annum. There are also other plans, currently in the feasibility study stage, to further expand the production capacity beyond Borouge 2 to cope with the increasing market demand.
The Borouge 2 expansion will see the construction alongside the existing facilities of one of the world’s largest ethane crackers facility producing 1.4 million tonnes of ethylene per annum, the world’s largest olefins conversion unit,a 540,000 tonnes per annum Borstar PE plant, and two 400,000 tonnes per annum, Borstar PP plants.
Borouge also announced that it will soon start setting up a new logistics hub in Guangzhou, China, similar to the one in Shanghai. The construction of the Shanghai facility commenced on November 28th 2008.
Additional hubs are being planned in the process in South East Asia and South Asia, to extend Borouge’s services to its customers.

Borouge is investing in research and development, with an Innovation Centre set up in Abu Dhabi to complement Borouge 2, jointly developed by Borouge and its co-owner Borealis. It will concentrate on developing practical solutions for plastic material applications and will be fully operational in 2010. The centre is expected to employ up to 45 researchers in the initial phase.
