Following an emergency security meeting Saturday morning, French President Francois Hollande said Daesh (also known as the Islamic State) is responsible for the coordinated attacks in Paris, the Guardian reported. Hollande explained that the group organized the attacks abroad, but received assistance from within France.
Multiple attacks in Paris killed over 150 people, and injured many others on Friday night.
He called the operation "an act of war," and asserted his commitment to fighting "the terrorist menace."
“I pay homage to the country’s defenders who fought the terrorists yesterday,” said Hollande. “Even if France is wounded, she will rise."
The president announced a three-day period of national mourning for the attack victims
