According to the news site's Arabic channel, eight shots were fired into the small plane, injuring at least two passengers and grounding a flight that was scheduled to fly into Baghdad later Monday night from Amman, Jordan.

Both passengers were rushed to the hospital for treatment, where they are said to be in stable condition. Further air traffic has been halted by officials, citing "security measures."

The source of gunfire and its motive have not yet been determined by officials.
