British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook met King Abdullah of Jordan in London Wednesday to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
After the meeting Cook said: "King Abdullah updated me on the latest developments in the Middle East and gave me his assessment. The situation is grave but we should not abandon hope.
"I thanked King Abdullah for the role he played at the Sharm el-Sheik summit last week and at the Arab summit over the weekend."
Cook added: "A peace settlement is the only alternative to the bloodshed we have seen." – LONDON (AFP)
