British Minister for Housing and Planning, Nicholas Raynsford, will arrive in Tehran Friday for a six-day visit aimed at exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, said a press release by the British embassy in Tehran.
Raynsworth will be heading a delegation of major British companies from the construction company, representing a broad range of experience in the construction sector.
Throughout the six-day visit, the British minister is expected to meet with Iranian counterpart Khajeh-Dalooie, as well as the head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and other ministers and officials.
According to Raynsford, "Iran offers considerable opportunities for British construction companies to work in partnership with Iranian consultants and civil engineering concerns to develop further Iran's infrastructure."
"The Iranian government has emphasized the importance of the construction sector in helping drive forward the economy and to create much needed employment. British experience and expertise in civil engineering and project finance can play a part in that development," he said.
He noted that "the general elections earlier this year confirmed the Iranian people's wish for continued political and economic reform," adding that his delegation looked forward to learning about planned projects and opportunities for cooperation "to the benefit of all involved."
The delegation will include consultancy services, as well as an expert in long-term project finance for power, energy and general infrastructure sectors - TEHRAN (AFP)
