Britain's parliament authorized on Tuesday the cloning of human embryos for research purposes, in a controversial decision on an issue that has split public opinion.
The parliament voted 366 to 174 to approve the draft.
The government of Prime Minister Tony Blair caused a stir in August when it launched the proposal to allow scientists to clone human embryos in order to make huge advances in finding treatments for devastating diseases -- LONDON (AFP)
