Bahrain’s King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa met in London on Wednesday with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. They discussed major international issues with a special focus on the deepening crisis between the Palestinians and the Israelis, especially in wake of the Israeli air strike on Gaza Monday.

The King and the Prime Minister expressed their concern over this attack, British foreign office officials said, according to the Kuwait News Agency. During their meeting, Blair voiced his support of the wide-ranging reform program implemented by the king of Bahrain, including parliamentary elections to be held in October.

Blair also welcomed the decision by Bahrain to purchase a number of hawk trainer jets. The Bahraini King, who is currently on a working visit to the United Kingdom, was accompanied, during the meeting by Bahraini foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak al Khalifa.

In the meantime, the British foreign office minister responsible for the Middle East, Michael o'Brien also met with the king of Bahrain earlier Wednesday to discuss bilateral issues as well as regional matters, the officials added. (Albawaba.com)
